Densha De Go 3! seems to use bottom-field-first interlacing for menu and OSD-style overlays throughout the game, but the actual core gameplay over which it is laid is top-field-first. I can't come up with any setting combinations that renders both properly; it's either one or the other.
Reproduction Steps
Start up the game with deinterlacing set to auto and with native 1x render resolution.
Skip through the intros to the "Press Start" screen - this renders OK. Press start.
This menu renders OK too. Choose the first option and press O.
After a loading screen (interlaced, TFF) you'll see the game mode menu. It's rendered wrong (BFF). If you manually switch to a bottom-field-first option it will render properly.
Select the first mode.
Select the first train option.
Now you'll end up in the actual game. See screenshot:
Note that the speedometer is rendered OK, as is the 3D environment of the game. The rest of the overlay looks all interlaced. If you switch modes to BFF you'll see crisp menus but now the game and speedometer is rendered with interlacing issues:
Also, if you scale up the game resolution at all, the overlay/HUD are beyond saving with a deinterlacer.

Crisp menus on top of crisp game, ideally.
