Hmm I don't remember them links being broken at all, but I did lots of improvements on podview since, and unless you can demonstrate the pattern that doesn't work, I'd say it shows links up to perlpod specs...?

I'd bet a rather large sum of money that everything works just fine now. I simply wanted to be sure that the reasoning for the strange code was clear, in case the situation ever arises again.

Ed, FYI, I think that those annoying L<> links were written that way because Prima's podview needed them that way for the links to work. Something to check out, at least... but perhaps Dmitry has fixed podview and this isn't a problem anymore (or he could be convinced to make the necessary changes)?
