PW is a program for making hard-copy output of image files on the Optronics photowriter.

PS is a program for producing image files on disk from real photographs using the Optronics photoscanner.

The hardware devices were attached to the Micro-Automation PDP-11/40 (see #1990).

Documentation in AI WP 166, sections 2 and 3.

The programs that run on the PDP-11/40 are P11W and P11W. They were assembled with MACRO, but later converted to PALX.
