Maclisp info #1319

@eswenson1 found this:
https://www.saildart.org/LISP.RPG[UP,DOC]4

I wonder if we should include this in DB (somewhere) for its historical value. There might even be some info in here that isn't anywhere else. I got.a kick out of the 1969 entry where they added DEFUN.

larsbrinkhoff commented 5 years ago

I think we can include it. It should have come from ITS in the first place.

I see the timestamps are around 1977. I recently read elsewhere that Maclisp came late to SAIL; this seems consistent with that.

eswenson1 commented 5 years ago

Doesn't the file talk about sail-specific functionality? So it may have originated at MIT (the early entries), but probably this file was updated at SAIL.

eswenson1 commented 5 years ago

Where do you recommend we put this? What should the FN1 and FN2 be?

larsbrinkhoff commented 5 years ago

.INFO.; LISP RECENT has similar content, doesn't it? Isn't ARCHIV the conventional name for change logs older than RECENT? We have TJ6 RECENT and ARCHIV, same for PLOT2.

I see now there used to be an .INFO.; LISP ARCHIV. Maybe it's the same file, or maybe we should call the SAIL file OARCHV or something. Or maybe we should try to get LISP ARCHIV first, then see what to do about LISP.RPG.
