The traffic mobilization + mainline bypass time are kept separate. When we know all the spot repairs, we get the maximum for the values of traffic mobilization and the maximum of the values of mainline bypass. These are then used as the only values for spot repairs.
For liners, if there are spots (always true for window A under current rules), we get the maximum of the liner mobilizations (traffic and bypass), and compare that to the liner mobilizations. The amalgamation spot/liner gets the largest possible time of its component units (not the sum
Are the traffic mob and bypass mob then added to the mobilization, or there is a cost associated with each mobilization activity that is added to the total cost at the end? This needs to be clarified on the cost process diagram as these components were not there previously.
From my current understanding, costs associated with these mobilizations also apply to the entire duration (traffic control, bypassing). The more we parse this, the more excited I get about gen4.
I'm going to leave this open, until I add it to the duration/time diagram. At that point, I will close this issue.
You can find this in 'FutureEventsDiagram', tabs 'APWSpot' and 'BPWSpot'. The most relevant parts of these tabs would be subsections 'APW Spot repairs in window A', and 'BPW Spot repairs in window A'.
I can do better. This diagram doesn't lend itself to quick error checking.
The duration for spot repair has mixed segment and whole pipe values added together. It is Base spot rep time + traffic mobilization time + mainline bypass time. Each spot will have its own base cost that is additive while the traffic and bypass mob only occur once per pipe. If we are to add up the costs for all of the bad spots for the spot repair alternative once the defects determine which need to be repaired, it will give too much traffic and bypass mobilization costs.
How are we actually going to do the calculation to separate the whole pipe vs segment durations and associated cost calculations?
