PHIPO:0000992 increased expression of a host defense related marker gene protein involved in pathogen interaction
sounds a bit odd. It seems strange to include. the fact that it is a "marker" in the term name. This isn't really part of the phenotype. Any Gene/protein can be a 'marker' it only means the gene is known to have that behaviour.
also 'marker gene protein' sounds strange.
What would be lost here (biologically) by just saying:
increased expression of a host defence-related ~marker gene~ protein involved in pathogen interaction
and the same for RNA?
Yes, I agree. I'll make those edits.
Edit PHIPO:0000992 increased expression of a host defense related marker gene protein involved in pathogen interaction to increased expression of a host defense-related protein involved in a pathogen interaction
PHIPO:0001144 decreased level of host defense related marker gene RNA involved in a pathogen interaction to decreased level of host defense-related RNA involved in a pathogen interaction

to PHIPO:0000992 increased expression of a host defense related marker gene protein involved in pathogen interaction
This will make it clearer as to whether the the phenotype relates to RNA or Protein

ans also aligns with PHIPO:0001144 decreased level of host defense related marker gene RNA involved in a pathogen interaction
