2.0.0 still under active development?

I love PHPExcel but have some performance issues with large datasets in 1.8.0 and have been hoping for an imminent 2.0.0 release (which was expected to make "significant improvements in performance and memory usage" by using more recent PHP features).

But I can't find any mention of it except for on the Codeplex site, and the develop_2.0.0 branch hasn't been touched in 2 years.

So...:

• Is development of 2.0.0 still in progress?
• Is there an ETA?
• If not, are relevant performance improvements going to be incorporated into 1.x.x?
