inmeta doesn't work for non-numeric data #28

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

See below.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I can't restrict by non-numeric metadata. So inmeta:SubType=144 works, but
inmeta:Name=beforeFirst does not. I don't know if I'm doing something
wrong, or if this is truly broken.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

Google Bug #244003

Original comment by vjo...@gmail.com on 9 Feb 2007 at 5:20

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Clarification: the issue only applied to queries that contained punctuation or
spaces
(e.g. "inmeta:Name=sb.txt"). These queries must be URL-encoded (e.g.
"inmeta:Name=sb%2Etxt").

Development partners who reported the issue have confirmed that URL-encoding the
query fixes the problem.

Google Bug #213866 describes the issue that some characters in "inmeta:"
queries must
be URL-encoded.
