Cannot Create Literature Notes in Obsidian #263

Hi there,

Full disclosure, I am new to both Obsidian and Zotero and while I can navigate tech fairly well I am not "tech savvy".

I have Zotlit installed on both Obsidian and Zotero, I followed the installation guides to the tee. In Zotero, I right click PDF and navigate to "Obsidian Actions" -> "Create literature note(s)" not the notes do not appear in Obsidian. When in Obsidian, if I attempt to import a note from Zotero then there are no results - as if I have no files in My Library in Zotero. Understandably, it seems that Zotlit plug in Obsidian is not connected to my Zotero library, or vice-versa, but Zotlit settings in obsidian suggest that the plugin is connected:

Zotero's data directory matches the location on Zotlit-Obsidian:

Other things to note: Obsidian community plugins are enabled Zotlit is enabled on the community plugins window in settings in obsidian I believe that Binary was installed (I am 99% sure I clicked install on the pop-up window), but how would I check that I did install this? All Obsidian, Zotero and my PC have been restarted multiple times.

Any ideas what might be going on, where I might be going wrong?

Here is a further screen shot of my general settings in Obsidian: image

Thank you for any support that you can provide.

If you go to the academic tools in obsidian discord, i think you'll find more support there.

Have you had a look at the console window (on view menu, Toggle Developer Tools, then select 'console' at the top of the dev tools pane)? It might give you a clue about error messages? You might need to change the log level in the Zotlit plugin (on the misc tab of the plugin configuration in Obsidian) to get more info. With a bit of luck it'll indicate where the issue is.

Hi. I meet the same situation like you. Because my mother tongue is not English, I hope I could explain the solution clearly.

Conclusion: Check the article terms. If your template cites blank terms(such as abstract, date, author, etc), this error could happen.

Just like you, all settings in plugins are correct, but some of the article notes cannot be created in Obsidian. So I compare the articles whose note are created successfully with failed articles. I found that the failed articles often have blank terms. After I fill the blank terms, notes could be created and updated. So I suggest you check this situation.

Hope you fix it! :D
