What has been done to verify that this works as intended?

Additional notes

This branch is already actively deployed in staging and production.

Due to the size of this addition, including a lot of other testing, bugfixes, and linting that was done during the process, it may be better just to do a code review and, upon successful review, make this the new develop branch and also the new master branch.

@jkpr This has been in production for awhile now. I'm going to merge this, test it, and if successful, merge to master. We can do a retroactive code review any time you want, however.
