Going to give this to Ansel since he worked on the custom name system. Doesn't seem urgent to me

This is required before I can use it in my course though.

Sorry wrong phrasing there. What I meant to say is that the custom name is purely visual (the program keeps track of it with a different name) and this isn't a bug a user will encounter unless they actively try to break the application. Either way, not a super complex fix
