Movist icon currently in use is pulled from MacRabbit's VLC Makeover Kit.

It even still says VLC at the bottom of the metal frame.

Agreed. It really bugs me that such a capable and slick app doesn't have its 
own icon. Shouldn't even be hard to 
get somebody to design it for you. The thing is, you can't be a serious 
competitor on the video player market 
until you do.

this was the very first thing I noticed when I downloaded movist. if it's not a 
temporary icon, then it seems like a 
pretty big oversight to me.

Here's a modified .icns file ('vlc' replaced with 'movist') you can drop it 
into the package: 
Movist.app/Contents/Resources/Movist.icns

Maybe they can add it to the distributed version too, until they get their own 
icon....

It is really awful regardless of whether it says VLC on it or not. The angle of 
the
icon is all diagonal or whatever, which, aside from being against Apple's Human
Interface Guidelines*, just looks hideous in the Dock surrounded by all the 
other
forward-facing icons. I hate it :(

The only thing missing for this to be THE video app to have on os x is a brand 
new
identity/logo and icon as other says. It's really disturbing to see the current 
one,
hope you get something original soon!

I don't know why Movist does not have it's own, "personal", unique, exclusive, 
special 
logo and/or icon set, but i think it really needs one.
If you need a designer, i'm here, and i will be very proud to help solving one 
issue
