possa/freepbx-weather-by-zip does not work with freepbx it is not signed by the freepbx master signure so it will not work with freepbx at all no mater what you do it did my work for me at all and i downloaded it and tryed to get it to work but it continusly gave error freepbx-weather-by-zip-master.zip

lgaetz commented 2 years ago

A lack of signature will not prevent it from working. This module has not been maintained for current versions of FreePBX. An overhaul is needed.

kevinbradt1 commented 2 years ago

Well I tryed to install it and it would not activate or work because it is not signed by the freepbx

The POSSA version of Weather by ZIP is not maintained by us. The Nerd Vittles suite of apps including current versions of AsteriDex, Weather by ZIP, News Headlines, Call By Name and many more all work reliably and are preinstalled with all versions of Incredible PBX. You have a choice of Asterisk 16 or 18 installs, both of which include all current Asterisk 15 GPL modules. Installers are available for CentOS 7, Rocky 8, Debian 10, Raspbian 10 for Raspberry Pi, and Ubuntu 20.04. The Incredible PBX security model does not employ the proprietary, Sangoma signature checks and instead relies upon a whitelist of IP addresses using the Linux IPtables firewall. Unlike other security models, the Incredible PBX platform has never been compromised. Come join the party where everything is and always will be free: https://wiki.incrediblepbx.com/HomePage

Then you connect to my freepbx server and try to install it

I think Lorne and I both made clear that the POSSA version of Weather by ZIP code is no longer supported. You first will need to install Incredible PBX on your server in a version of your choice.

kevinbradt1 commented 2 years ago

Ok sorry for bothering both of you

It's not a bother, and an apology is not necessary. The reality is that FreePBX modules require periodic maintenance, which has not been kept up for this one. Eventually a community member will come forward to do the necessary work.

Thank you for reporting the issue, project readme has been updated.

kevinbradt1 commented 2 years ago

It would be cool if the people at freepbx took over this module and added it to all of there freepbx servers

No "takeover" is required. It's GPL code that's free for everyone to use. As I mentioned, a working copy already is available on ALL the Incredible PBX platforms. Be advised that there are lots of moving parts to this application. The zip codes are stored in a MySQL, MariaDB, or SQLite database depending upon your OS of choice. Reading back the weather reports requires a text-to-speech engine that works on your platform of choice as well. Not all TTS engines work on all platforms so both the AGI script and the FreePBX dialplan code require some tweaking. With the FreePBX Distro, there's also the requirement to keep the signatures up to date. That's the roadmap if Lorne and his folks decide they'd like to use our GPL code.
