When will be the code for panoptic segmentation training part be released?

We do not have a timeline, as it is on development. You can watch the repo for updates when we push new features.

I'd like to contribute to this somehow. Is panoptic segmentation still a possibility? If there is a certain approach that is documented somewhere, I am happy to take a stab at implementing it

We have it on our todo list, but since of involvement in other projects or different work, we (or better @tano297) currently have no time to work on polishing the code.
