~O42661~ P36594 ~Rpd1~ Rpb1 CTD-S5-S7

"These experiments implicate Ser5, Pro6, and Ser7 as component letters of a CTD coding “word” that transduces a repressive transcriptional signal via serine phosphorylation."

This is a similar situation (it seems that "most" need to be phopshophorylated). The important part is that for the code they need to occur together (my understanding is that the S5-S7 would be both phosphorylated on a variable number of repeats). Althought the Pro6 is important I don't know its isomerization status in this "word", it isn't interrogated here (it just needs to be a proline at this position but it isn't clear why)

S5 can be added by Msc6 or cdk9 I don't yet know what phosphorylates S7

Hi Val, Can you check the identifiers and genes? O42661 is for smd1 (Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein Sm D1). I cannot find a gene rpd1 in pombe, but perhaps it is intended to refer to RNA pol II? That's what the paper is talking about. Perhaps it should be rpb1, but that's UniProtKB:P36594.

On the chance I'm correct, the term would be:

This is what happens when you think you know gene names in your head! You are correct, It should be Rpb1 (DNA-directed RNA polymerase II complex large subunit Rpb1) P36594
