Hierarchy resorting itself/can't move units #352

Open hloliver opened 7 years ago

Hi I've just re-ordered the hierarchy so that the 2017-18 unit appears at the top, followed by 2016-17 unit, then Archived Lists, and although the move is accepted when I go to Browse the lists are displayed A-Z.

The units are still in the preferred order when I go Edit/Move/Clone hierarchy, though they have reverted back to A-Z a couple of times

We're also struggling to move units around within a top-level unit, in this video I want to move 'Psychoanalytic (Applied) Portfolio' so that it comes after 'Forensic Portfolio' but that won't work

Could you take a look?

Thanks Helen

Hi Helen

Many thanks for this. Is this still a problem, I just checked your Browse view and Hierarchy view and they both appear to display the same order (http://nimb.ws/37g6dm).

As far as moving units around, I'm obviously reluctant to try and randomly move things around in your hierarchy to replicate this, is there a list I can move somewhere to test this out?

Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Still a problem in that it had reset itself again - we want the 2017-18 unit at the top so that it's the first one that students see. The Forensic portfolio is now back where we wanted it but I think that reset itself alphabetically at some point.

I've just switched the top level units over again, they stayed for a little while in the Manage Hierarchy view, but in the public view had switched around so that 2016-17 was first. Now both views are showing 2016-17 first.

You'll also see that there's another top-level unit in the public view (CPD Courses), which is actually in the 2017-18 unit in the Manage Hierarchy view (I'd tried to move it as we want to keep our main portfolios at the top and the other units underneath, but could't move that at all when I tried)

I'd be very pleased for you to try it out!

In the 2016-17 unit could you try moving CPD Courses underneath Systemic Portfolio, and Other underneath that so it should be:

Systemic Portfolio CPD Courses Other

I've just tried it and got the red error box

Thanks Helen

Hi Helen

Apologies for the delay in getting to this. I'm just looking now and am now seeing this layout in the Browse view:

I'm not seeing any sign of the 2017-18 unit. I assume you've been carrying out more work, are you still experiencing problems?

Many thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew

Apologies for the late reply - yes, afraid we're still having problems.

In this video I try to move the 'Tavistock & Portman Reading Lists - Current Academic Year' to the top of the hierarchy, but when I go to browse it's been replaced by 'Tavistock & Portman Reading Lists 2016-2017' - when I go back and move it again the Current Academic Year unit is displayed under the '2016*17' unit when I browse, but in the correct position when I go back to Manage Hierarchy https://www.screencast.com/t/cuUxzokdU. I

best wishes

Helen
