Add a warning on the PX4Flow page about the EMI #562

Open deksprime opened 6 years ago

deksprime commented 6 years ago

There has been some reported cases of PX4Flow affecting the GPS sensor due to electromagnetic interference caused by the PX4Flow. It was first brought up 5 years ago in here and mentioned here by @drton which seems to be an open issue, which was also brought up in here by @priseborough . I know that these issues are pretty old but this problem still seems to persist, at least with the older versions of PX4Flow (I'm not aware whether there are any revised versions). Since we have a detailed guide on how to use the optical flow sensor, we might as well add a warning somewhere in the page that poor cabling, sensor placement etc. might cause the GPS noise to increase which eventually would lead to suboptimal ekf performance.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have added a note as part of moving the whole document into the PX4 User guide and merging with other PX4 material: https://github.com/PX4/px4_user_guide/pull/300

The note looks like this:

Warning PX4Flow emits a significant amount of electromagnetic radiation, and should be placed as far away from other electronics (in particular GPS modules) as possible. (see Hardware/issues/8 for more information).
