Fixing build errors and warnings #6

Commit 713248ea4777062584c92122a0450ffd48e66fca fixed a lot of dependency errors that resulted in warnings and errors during the build process. A number of smaller issues still need to be resolved, but the package does build.

[ ] - Add tests [ ] - Fix some of the encoding issues for certain data objects (like accented pollen taxa).

I'll add more issues here as I find them. This is a partial list, ad intended to also let me tag @mtrachs because I forgot to let him know in the commit :)

Started adding tests in the 3dd254c3c7c1d9d883f284e92b6dbb32d86fafc0 commit. Most of the encoding issues are now resolved as well. Although more testing needs to be done, this covers the initial problem of test building.
