Which region is your game from?
You should be able to drag furniture if you get the latest Qt build from the website. The freeze might require LLE DSP which you can toggle in the config.toml file, but I'd rather not put you through the misery of rerunning the game with LLE DSP on.
Do you have a save file I could have perhaps?
The game's region is North America, as shown by one of the console images, I'll make sure to directly clarify the region in any future compatibility reports.
There wouldn't be any accompanying save file for my initial report, since the issue occurs before any saving can be done. For that reason, I've taken it upon myself to test with LLE DSP enabled, and I can verify that the game proceeds forward as expected when it's enabled. I've tested for about an hour and will provide the save files that were created from this session.
Some extra things to note from this test: -As is to be expected, performance is worse, but overall the game still seems to run at a playable speed. Performance will decrease significantly in outdoor scenes and while animals are speaking. -Audio seems to be generally accurate, but is low pitched with many stutters and skips, likely due to the game's sub-optimal frame rate. -The game asks you to take a photo with L+R, this crashes the emulator (most likely due to the fact that this ties into the 3ds camera applet, which doesn't appear to be implemented at this time). You can continue as normal by simply ignoring the request. -Similar visual bugs to the ones previously noted with the player appear to occur with specific texture changing related functions. This is most notably seen when trying to change a room's wallpaper and flooring more than once.
I thank you for your service and am in awe at your patience

Game State
Game boots with 1 warning and runs at a generally acceptable speed. Overall graphical issues are minor, major graphical issues may occur on the player character depending on what customization options are selected.
A fair amount of the tutorial can be completed, with the game generally behaving as expected, However, during the sequence where the finished tutorial home is being shown off, the emulator throws an OpenDirectory error and freezes. On QT, a softlock occurs during the tutorial due to the inability to properly drag furniture.
