[NEWS] Remove Papirus-Adapta, Papirus-Adapta-Nokto in the near future #1499

Adapta now globaly changed - all elemnts have another colors, style and etc... issues closed and we don't want support anymore integration with Papirus and KDE Theme. Soon we release last version with Adapta-version but on future this will be dropped.

Why we doing this?

We not have more time update again and again icon theme and kde theme (not forgot kde pack have multiply themes - yakuake, aurorae, plasma and etc...) with compatibility for Adapta and upstream changes. Also new style and colors on Adapta not loking as old Adapta style and we don't like this new style and colors. KDE Theme will be archived.

Sorry for that guys :(

INFO for developers: @FadeMind keep in mind, we remove Papirus-Adapta and Papirus-Adapta-Nokto with near future. If you have trouble for Manjaro theming, please report about that.

Have to say that the next release stays as is. The changes will be made in mid or late October.

Anyway we decide detach Papirus from all GTK Themes (exception ePapirus), because it's very hard for development... Mostly 3-d party gtk themes can be discontinued or changed and we not catch fix that on papirus and support this. As an alternative maybe will be created Papirus-Customizer for support popular themes on future...

@FadeMind that is not related to adapta-gtk-theme. The changes were planned a lot of months ago, begins #1060. We leave only 3 themes (Papirus, Papirus-Dark, and Papirus-Light) with neutral colors that similar to colors in the most popular GTK themes (Arc, Adapta, Materia).

How to remove Papirus-Adapta/Papirus-Adapta-Nokto from the list of icon themes?

To completely remove Papirus-Adapta/Papirus-Adapta-Nokto execute the following command:

sudo rm -rf /usr/share/icons/Papirus-Adapta /usr/share/icons/Papirus-Adapta-Nokto

I want to change the color of folders back to cyan

At first, install papirus-folders and then change the color of folders to cyan using the command:

papirus-folders -C cyan --theme Papirus-Dark

Can I Papirus-Adapta/Papirus-Adapta-Nokto back?

Yes, you can install Papirus-Adapta/Papirus-Adapta-Nokto, but you should understand that themes are unsupported.

I'm a package maintainer that don't want to break the icon themes for end-users

Feel free to add this workaround to your package. It bind Papirus-Adapta to Papirus and Papirus-Adapta-Nokto to Papirus-Dark.
