[Icon request] GDM Settings symbolic icons #3573

Not entirely sure whether this is an icon request or an issue with the theme, but in several apps I'm noticing that the 'smaller' icons of Papirus are dissimilar to those of default Adwaita on gnome, where they shouldn't necessarily be. See to examples. What's the best way to request these? Schermafdruk van 2023-10-25 15-55-54

What name of the app?

Raubion commented 10 months ago

Ah yes, sorry should have mentioned that. This is an app called gdm-settings.

I have a follow-up question. Is it somehow possible to get a more 'minimal' version of the Papirus theme, which just changes the app icons and icons for things like folders, zips, text- and libreoffice files, but not the system icons?

I have now by way of experiment changed the app icons via menulibre and the folder icons by hand, but it's tedious and incomplete. Any tips would be welcome.

@Raubion I don't have interest to support this. Try to find it on https://www.pling.com/

I understand, that's fine. You may close this issue if you like or keep it open if you still want to work on the icon.

However, for future reference and other people that might be looking into this: I've hacked together a custom theme by taking the MoreWaita icon theme, copied all the 64x64 icons from apps to the apps folder of MoreWaita (including symlinks), then I copied all the 64x64 icons from places which I used (orange in my case) to the places folder of MoreWaita and renamed them so the color was no longer part of the file name.

This way I have a theme that uses adwaita system icons in otherwise broken apps (gdm-settings, apostrophe-git), while still having the Papirus look.

I added all the required symbolic icons, but the app still prefer non-symbolic icons, and I don't know why.
