OBS icon looks too small due to being inset #3621

I just noticed something about the OBS icon. While it is the correct size, having the actual design inset within a larger circle creates an optical illusion that makes it seem smaller than other circular icons.

I suggest that the inner design be scaled out to the correct size, and the confining circle removed - not only will this make it look less jarring, but improve consistency with other circular icons. You don't see the spotify, discord or steam logo inset within another circle, do you?

As a workaround, I can increase the circle on the 48px icon from 40px to 42px. This workaround already applied to 32px and 64px icons. Either, I can make the icon looks like the upstream one, but it'll be much less bright and a bit out of Papirus style.

I think it depends on the background on which the icon is on. I doubt that you'd think it looks smaller than the others if your panel was, for example, white.

improve consistency with other circular icons.

As SmartFinn has said, that would be out of Papirus style, worsening the consistency. We don't use outlines. Redoing the OBS icon means breaking resemblance with other icons that use outline inside a larger circle. For example, Librewolf browser icon uses similar style and it doesn't bug me.

Like this? I am concerned about legibility on similarly-coloured backgrounds.

@morganist I was thinking something like this

It seems that this idea hasn't gained traction. Maybe we should close this.
