the tpt grant proposal included estimates for how many specimen of taxonomic groups are stored in specific collections. And related, how many of these specimens have digital representation that are openly available.

@jhpoelen the original estimate (these numbers have changed a bit over the years) of specimens per institution is in a spreadsheet here. I'll have to ask Kat/Jen if they know where a breakdown of taxa by collection is - that spreadsheet was created before I took over managing :) I don't know if it's helpful or not, but the estimated number of different species is in this image:
