Screenshots #520

Not really a new issue, but the screenshot function is awkward. It doesn't really work well when attempting to take screenshots, click, click, click, and they are all saved in the Download folder. YouTube Screenshot for Google Chrome works great for this; the Magic Actions is another tool that takes a good screenshot of the video playing, but only one. Phoenix OS had a YouTube App to add that was the best, but I can't find it again or the app has changed. Anyway, if I am watching a YouTube video and want a series of snapshots, the only add-on that works is YouTube Screenshot. Maybe you can develop/replicate the feature.

The core of the extension is a userscript and as a userscript it is extremely limited to what browsers allow them to do, this means that it is not as powerful as fully dedicated extensions. Alternatively there could be made use of a 3rd party website, in this case like Magic Actions does, but then again you'd be depending on a service that might die or might be unreachable if there are connection problems.

The screenshot feature is just a simple way to take an unedited and lossless shot of the video at the quality you have selected, it is not a camera or a recording tool. It was mostly created for users that wanted to take out nice images from ultra high resolution videos and use them in their computer backgrounds, for example.

If you feel other tools offer more and better things that you prefer then you found something better to use, this one is just a simple feature for simple use, nothing more.

No offense intended--I wish I knew or could find again the YouTube app that was in Phoenix OS. I only tried Phoenix on a USB install.

The reason I made a response/comment was to suggest and provide information that other extensions include. I thought it would be quite simple to tweak the extension and make what is great, greater.

Cheers!
