Add a alerting notifications feature #656

This is just a suggestion.

I know we can listen to Service Control Events to report on this but it would be nice to have it as part of Service Control and/or Service Pulse. Using any of these two apps we would love to be able to configure an email address that can receive a notification email when any of the Service Control events are published:

A message failed.
A custom check failed.
A heartbeat stopped or was restored.

We have a more fully-fledged alerting capability on our radar, but it's a long way out from being developed.

In the meantime, you could simply subscribe to all of those messages using the events and send out an email using your SMTP server.
