The main advantage is a total overhaul of the physical hardware, with better speed and accuracy, also including klipper you are in a sense building a bigger version of a Switchwire. We are still working on the Y and stewing on the enclosure, but the main gain would be a huge boost in speed, accuracy, auto-leveling, and a total rework of the build plate with faster heating using a silicone heating pad, and a 9-point bed contact fixed platform meaning no more warping on the bed. We will be borrowing some keys from the 2.4 and incorporating them for a DIN rail mount system. Though it may be a little different than the original. We are working together to brainstorm and get the whole design finished for testing on our end and for others to be able to test it aswell.
Also the idea is to keep the bedslinger style of the CR10, we could of course go to the Core XY but in that case it would be better to buy a new kit and build a new printer. Finally let's be honest, there are many Ender-WIRE so why not a CR10-WIRE ? ;)
Thank You sryates and PascalPoeck for your replies.
Above I was wondering whether the CR10 could be upgraded to for example the Zero G conversion (Core XY).
I thought it might be possible .
However I realized that that would not be a great idea, since the Zero G conversion is designed to covert the Creality Ender 5 to core XY.
I am exited to follow your CR10-WIRE conversion, and can't wait to start. LOL
Thank you for doing this conversion for the Creality CR10.
Hi Pascal
Thank you very much for starting such a professional CR10 - WIRE conversion.
I also have a CR10 which was my first printer which served me well, and which I now would like to upgrade as a hobby / project.
However I would like to know / investigate why for example the "CR10-WIRE-XY", and not maby a Core XY conversion.
Do you know what are the benefits of building an CR10-WIRE-XY?
What is the advantage of Voron Switchwire? The CoreXZ kinematics allows very fast motion on X and on Z and eliminate all limitations and issues you may have with lead screws. A slightly bent or desynchronized lead screw leads to nasty patterns and artifacts on your prints. The fast speed on Z makes Voron SW the perfect printer for parts that require Z-hops.

What are the advantages of CoreXZ? CoreXZ | Parallel Arms Motion Platform The CoreXZ design allows to use advantages of both worlds - it could be as fast as Deltas (as it uses a light moving platform without sacrificing print space), and accurate as Cartesian 3D printers. Whole kinematics is very simple and does not require trigonometric calculations.
