How is Path of Building expected to behave?

Not trying to burn down GPU's.

How does Path of Building behave?

I'm having this Issue since the latest update and also only found problems in the issue tracker but no solutions.

When in the build select screen, GPU load jumps to over 70% and GPU has coil whine.

When selected a build and you are in the skill tree, GPU load jumps to over 20%

When tabbing out of the program GPU usage is at a near 1%

The bigger the window, the bigger the problem (yes literally).

I also checked the settings in the nvidia control panel and set the frequencies to a max of 30 fps which did not solve the issue.

I find it odd that it is this update as that doesn't make sense as we didn't change anything related.

There are a few issues open related to this. Someone speculated monitor resolution/qty and frame rate might be contributors. There is also a WIP different render called angle which you should be able to find instructions for if you wanted to try it

The reason 30fps cap probably did nothing is because pob already runs at a low framerate.

I am also having the same problem , any fixes so far?

This comment details how to try the ANGLE branch of the graphics library: https://github.com/PathOfBuildingCommunity/PathOfBuilding/issues/4736#issuecomment-1211478087 Try that and see if it works.

no idea what that WIP stuff is/works and the monitor resolution is a standart 1080.

I had the same problem, clean Windows. I fixed it by simply limiting the frame rate to 30 in the Nvidia Control Panel in Manage 3d settings, after that the graphics card usage dropped to 15% maximum, but this is still not a great result, the power consumption parameter is also high. Hope this helps!
