Unable to resolve dependency tree after adding hardhat-deploy-ethers

I was following the tutorial and seems like the ether-deploy-ehters is messing the dependency tree up, then tried cloning the code from this repo, same issue, not able to compile the project, and nor npm install new dependencies, any work around? I was following the owner of the dependency and seems like it's a common error. here is a link: https://github.com/wighawag/hardhat-deploy-ethers/issues/13
