Carole's Feedback #4

• How difficult was the level? Overall, it was an easy game to play. If I did not see the shortcuts, I would give it a medium difficulty level at first. But after discovering the shortcuts, the game was easier to play.

• Did you feel like you needed to take a shortcut during play? Near the end of the parkour, it was hard to jump across the pointy platforms and reach the elevator on the green area. I only used the shortcut because it felt like an option for me to save time, rather than a last solution. I wanted to see how the game would work with and without the shortcut.

• Did it feel satisfying to take a shortcut? Because the platform was so high, I wanted to see how it looked like at the bottom without being afraid of heights. I know it is just a game, but there is still that constant fear of falling and restarting the game all over again. Using the shortcut was rather more stressful.

• Did it feel satisfying to beat the level without a shortcut? I used the shortcut to reach the luminous box at first. Then, I tried the road without shortcut to reach the same destination and I felt disappointed in myself. I should not have used the shortcuts at the beginning because it was easier than I thought.

• How do you feel about the shortcut at the start of the level? I feel like the player would be more tempted to just use the shortcuts at the beginning (just like I did) because of how convenient and close it is. Once you fall and return to the original location, it is hard to ignore the shortcuts and play the whole game again.

• Do the second and third shortcuts feel necessary? The second and third shortcuts felt like a more “dangerous option”, so I ignored them. It felt riskier and time consuming to use (or discover) those shortcuts than to continue the main road.

• Did the character feel comfortable to play? I was hard to rotate the view with the mouse while playing with the WASD keys. If the mouse moved just a little bit, my whole view would change (maybe it is also due to the sensitivity of my mouse).

• Is playing in first person disorienting? Yes, when my character faced downhills, I was not able to see below unless I moved my mouse downwards. Also, whenever my left and right arrows are down, I was not able to see my side views, which made the situation a little more stressful.

• Were the obstacles challenging? When I downloaded the file, there was a message saying it was another version of unity. It might be possible that I missed some features. When I pressed the shift key for too long, there was a Windows pop up, asking me to change some desktop settings. So, I would suggest that you use another key to run.

• Was failure discouraging? / How motivated were you to play after dying? I felt motivated to start again because I did not want to use shortcuts to reach my goals (even though I was quite impatient). The idea that there is another way around was reassuring.
