Brief about voyage:

• West side usually more ice free
• 2 moorings, 1 west, 1 in the inflow area (maybe for 1.5 years)
• 2025, 60 day voyage on Nuyina with ACEAS, AAPP and SAEF
• auto sub UK to measure underneath ice shelf, CTDs and EM-APEX, 2 moorings -Bathymetry - complex with several canyons around West and East Bruce Rise
• Aim to get to East side, but sea ice is persistent there.
• get Text file/shape file from Jo Whitat on planned measurement locations (CTD and EM-APEX, moorings).
• Call for participants to the voyage
• Data available first for participants/some invited - others will have a cool-off period
• New bathym and obs data from EASI Polarstern this year voyage (available +- April 2024) to help plan next Voyage

Model to give ideas of variability in these regions: MIT-gcm 1/50 w/ cavities, ACCESS-0M2 and OM3

Hackathons - to provide model assessments of voyage plan

Coastal current really strong seasonal variability & close to the shore (from Max’s model) Surface intensified ASC - transects through cont. Slope Seal tagging vs CTD measurements? Modellers prefer seals priority to seal CTDs vs few normal CTDs DSW in overflows found in models ... Kaihe says some obs as well. Real-time analyses of the data (geophys. Do it) -> change plans if needed Previous CTD data from Helen and Laura

Storage/workstation available on the ship to bring model outputs etc Double-check in the models if observation change (not trends, like Ribeiro et al. 1996 x seal CTDs) could indicate potential changes Altimeter-based velocities - how good are they near the coast?
