Unable to add folders or files #2476

Overview

Haven't used the app in ages. Opened it today and tried adding a folder or a file to the app.

When trying to add a folder - the folder browser logo appears on a blank background. The the app crashes.

When trying add a file the file browser opens to recent, but there are no folders or files displayed - like they are not there. There are no other options to chose folders.

Existing folders that were added still worked. That is until i re-installed the app then only one folder appeared and I could not play anything from it (play button did nothing).

How to reproduce

  1. Open the app.
  2. Click the the middle button of "Audiobook folders" on the top right.
  3. Click add button on the bottom left.
  4. Chose folders - shows folder logo then crashes. Chose file - opens recents browser but is empty

Seems like an issue with the file picker. Its not showing files when attaching in other apps (it does open and let me chose another source like Gallery).

Using the file picker launcher also crashes the file picker app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.aospstudio.files

Basically its a system issue and not the app's issue.
