What happened to the downward arrow? #143

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

This is a usability question - the previous version of this had a downward
arrow to indicate it was a drop. Now this is gone, and when we do some
usability testing with some users we find people don't know what do with this
component - they don't understand they can click on it.

How can we get back the dropdown arrow?

thanks

Please do NOT close this issue. It's a huge issue, in my opinion. I know that
it's just the CSS styling, but the default style or a default style packaged
with the download should definitely include this. This is a huge loss for this
control - I know it's just a little graphical image, but it makes a huge
difference with regards to how the control is seen. I personally find the lack
of the downward arrow in v1.1 extremely distasteful - it looks more like a
playtoy than a control.

Update - Apparently passing the option { icon: {} } enables the jQuery UI arrow
icons . . . . . . . . . . . . . . my question is still "why is the default to
have no icon at all"?

A design choice was made to make the default display as simple as possible with
minimal options. As you have already noted, it is very easy to activate the
arrow display.

Actually even with the icon: {} "fix" I don't get arrows. Using latest 1.4
version.

The Demo and Test pages both include samples of the icon display that is
working for me.
Can you post a simple example where the icon is not displaying?

(and did you remember to include both a base jquery ui themeroller css
definition, as well as ui.dropdownchecklist.themeroller.css)
