[BUG] Update check failed #418

Describe the bug

A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

I just downloaded the latest release and when I open it, I get this error: image

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Download the latest release.
  2. Extract it.
  3. Open the .exe file
  4. See the error

Expected behavior

Not seeing the error.

I am also getting this issue, it stops the whole app from working even when I go continue without updating. Looks like it can't talk to the an API.

EDIT: This happens on all release versions that I try.

It was complaining about a missing config. Adding the empty json file then gave this. 2023-06-18_16-30-01.log

Looking at the other issues this probably relates to #400

523 is cloudflare's origin unreachable which means the maintainer's servers are down. possibly abandoned or forgotten? we can only hope for @PazerOP to save us :v

The main BD program is no longer being developed. Turn off auto updates. The program will still run perfectly fine, but it will not receive any new features.
