Findings are usually tracked longitudinally as the patient receives subsequent exams - the finding will be recorded each time, but it will be a reference to a single abnormality. It is not clear if the proposed standard allows for this or if each finding is considered distinct. If each is considered distinct, longitudinal tracking will become more difficult or not plausible.

We need to talk about this.

a) Use of RFID tags to identify same finding over time? RFID considered a device and tracked as such. b) Add something similar to a DICOM Observation ID to finding? This is an open issue that we are waiting on, as other groups work on this. We intend to do this, but in a future release as clear definitions of how to do this are released.
