The "active topics" list is supposed to list threads that have either been initially posted or received a reply in some limited time, by default (if I remember correctly) two weeks, and it's usually (I'm fairly sure) been sorted with the most recent posts at the top. When I checked it today, both in its default state and if I try any of the options in the "Display posts from previous [drop-down]" form at the bottom, it gives me what I suspect is every thread on HW (at the bottom it says Page 1 of 20 [ Search found more than 1000 matches ]), with threads in what looks like no particular order (the "Last Post" field starts with one on August 15, then September 5, then August 23, then August 22, then September 1, and so on, adding in older and older threads).
