The following text in the perlop(1p) manpage appears to have a misspelling:

This usage is vaguely depreciated\, which means it just might possibly be removed in some distant future version of Perl\, perhaps somewhere around the year 2168.

I believe the meaning intended by "depreciated" would better be served by "deprecated".

(TRANSITIVE VERB). 1. To lessen the price or value of. 2. To make to seem less valuable or important; disparage.

(INTRANSITIVE VERB). To diminish in value.

[dep-re-cate] (de_p'ri_-ka-t'')

(TRANSITIVE VERB): [dep-re-cat-ed\, dep-re-cat-ing\, dep-re-cates]. 1. To express disapproval of. 2. To depreciate; belittle.

USAGE The first and fully accepted meaning of /deprecate/ is to express disapproval of. But the word has steadily encroached upon the meaning of / depreciate/. It is now used\, almost to the exclusion of /depreciate/\, in the sense to belittle or mildly disparage: /He deprecated his own contribution/. This newer sense is accepted by a majority of the Usage Panel.
