@zenmatic I do not think these are gaps at all, but rather " . . . . . . " in the table of contents for the volume in the front matter. The print table of contents would not typically be included in any Perseus digital edition and there is no cause for it to be here.
In this case, the gap tags are also being used incorrectly. (I see other non-standard markup throughout.) There is no reason for the front matter/table of contents to be included. This will be addressed when the markup is reviewed for best practices.
