Should this be changed to a directory in the style of PerseusDL/canonical, but containing inventory entries instead of texts, so that people could gather a custom inventory automatically from a directory?

Hi Stella, I think that's a great idea -- but I wonder if it belongs here or in the catalog_data repo? Currently the catalog process uses a single CTS inventory built from Perseus 4, but this is something that probably needs to change now too. We should talk about this during the dev meeting tomorrow when @annakrohn will review the catalog update process
