We have a lot of empathy papers from the neuroscience angle, and not as many from the behavioral angle. See if he can get us connected with this work.

Hi, ton of research in psychology on empathy (mostly self report) esp. by Don Batson. See also in neuroscience Jean Decety and Tania Singer (latter two are empathy for pain, a small subset of empathy)
