I'm really interested in seeing the PS3 native movies working, too. How do you play back the ps3 movies / access the files inside the wmp container / edit the containers? Is there a windows codec to play back the ps3 movies?
The PS3 movies are literally MPEG4, so you can play them even in Windows Media Player, however you will only be able to play the first movie from the .wmp file. You'd need to find a way to dump all of them from the .wmp container.
I'm hoping somebody with a hex editor can reverse engineer the file format.. I'm guessing ideally you could just repack the ps3 files then. I've tried extracting the embedded bink / avi files with a couple of tools but no luck so far...
For the record, the tools I tried to extract the wmp files : http://www.digitalfoundry.org/binkextract.zip (crashed on my W81x64, but might work for someone) and FMV Extractor, which came up blank in both pc and ps3 versions of the wmp files.
Hey. I know this is more of a request than an issue report, but as you know PC version of FF13 has considerably compressed movies compared to PS3. What's more, they are in Bink (in .wmp container) and even are hardsubbed. I tried in vain to just replace the PC movie files with the PS3 ones (also in .wmp container), but the game simply skips the movies in such case due to not recognizing the format of the PS3 movies (they are in PAMF).
Do you think you could try and make the game read the PS3 movie files so we could replace them? Or alternatively, find a way to recode the PS3 movies for PC without losing quality? Here's one of the files from the Asian PS3 version of the game (so Japanese audio). https://mega.co.nz/#!6ZB00QQS!RVWXFrwYHQv4MCHs59pxlmBfyMcmL4yUiHZzXQTJBfo It's equivalent in the PC files is "z000.win32.wmp". And while it may seem like it's one movie, it's actually multiple movies packed in a .wmp container. That applies to both PC version's bink movies and PS3's pamf movies.
Also I sent you a friend invite on Steam, but you don't seem to have accepted it. If you'd be interested in trying to get those better movies working on PC it would be great because the compressed PC movies are absolute ass, hardsub is also pretty awful.
