[Suggestion] Would it be possible to add some sort of extra compression for gears and pipes? #17

Hello there,

Loving this mod, using it extensively for the new coil and sheet recipes! I've made extensive use of the new recipes in my newest base, mostly the coils/sheets ones, and specially the insulated coils!

I've also used the pipes/gears ones too, since I have my smelting/casting block output directly to my BUS nearby, so I can have a couple of extra belts for those and thus it makes sense to centralize production at the cost of having some space used up in the BUS.

But I'm finding that now that I'm starting to want to decentralize and move everything to trains, it doesn't make sense to be transporting gears and pipes around: the throughput needed is huge and moving them in trains would make a huge part of the base's traffic since they are used everywhere in big numbers. I'd love to be able to produce the gears in the block where all my metal casting already lives, and that would mean that I'd have huge throughput issues for gears coming out of that to where they are needed, if I wanted to provide them to blocks that requires them for production chains.

So, I wanted to ask if it was possible to also include some kind of gear and pipes packing/compression, similar to sheets/coils in the mod? That would make those recipes extra useful too!

Maybe the packing unit could be a box of gears? Or perhaps some sort of stack/tube with ~8 or 10 gears each? It'd make sense to be around 5 to 10 gears each pack, since your often need ~30/s, or even 60/s or so, in some processes but you will probably know better about balance! :)

For pipes, I would think something like a large pipe that gets cut down in pieces, and those are not so throughput intensive, so they can be 4 to 1, same as sheets.

Best regards! ~leandor

Thanks for using the mod, and im glad you have found it a useful quality of life tool. The main reason why i didn't have compression for gears in particular, is that they are generally covered by other "intermediate" stacking mods, which are a dime a dozen these days... pipes is an interesting question. I am unfortunately waaaaaay too busy to be able to implement many changes, so i cannot guarantee anything.

Gotcha! No problem from me, I understand! It was just a suggestion from my part, never intended to sound like a request! Sorry if it sounded like that!

As for other stacking mods, I've personally used Deadlock's in the past, and it worked well for a smaller mod pack.

I've also tried it for Angel & Bobs, on my last attempt at making a A&B base, and my gripe with it is that unfortunately you doesn't seem to be able to control which recipes you want to be able to stack and which don't... i.e. it leads to a super bloated recipe list with many recipes that IMO doesn't make sense to be stacked.

But you have a good point there: I'm gonna look around the mod portal and see if I can find some other mod that would allow me to do that for just the gears! (Or at least, only for intermediates.)

I'd really like to keep using the new gear recipes when I move my smelting block out of the base!

Thank you very much again for making the mod and sharing it!
