In July I decided to work on a new initiative in trying to build a more solid and vibrant African community for the Phala network. After a long discussion and guidance from Scarlet, I took on the initiative to participate in a physical event and promote the Phala network among a gathering of different individuals and leaders from various blockchains.
So I traveled across the country to participate in a one-day polkadot networking event at Kano State Nigeria.
One of the notable names in attendance was the recently elected head of polkadot ambassador from Africa Mr Abdulbee. We spoke in detail about community building and what my fellow ambassadors of the Phala network are doing concerning building a vibrant Phala Africa community and onboarding new developers to build on the Phala network.
Another important figure that we networked together and spoke in detail about the Phala network was Popeblack who is the Africa Lead & Lead at Secret Agency DAO, responsible for managing and coordinating various Blockchain-related initiatives across the region and The Secret Network Community.
We spoke in detail about how Phala is also taking privacy computation to a whole new level by Utilizing Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), Phala ensures that data remains confidential and computation is secure. We ended the discussion with an idea of a possible future collaboration between the Phala network and the secret network.
I also met Sirjey who is our host and we discussed how we could build a general vibrant web3 community in Africa starting here in Nigeria and how it’s very important to have a community that’s being carried along concerning all of the updates happening in the ecosystem.
I introduced the audience of over 54 attendees to what the Phala network is all about.
I did a presentation on “Understanding Phala Network: AI-Agents and Agent Wars”
Then I introduce the Phala network ambassador program to them too.
After the presentation, I presented some merchandise to the Polkadot head ambassador, the secret network Africa lead, and also to our host Sirjey.
I also gave out merchandise to a participant who was able to recap comfortably and clearly what my presentation was all about.
Below is the brief summary of my presentation and some attached pictures from the event
I created a lot of more impactful content that reached a wider audience than before. A more impactful X threads, single posts, and quote retweets.
I created an article on “Phala Network: Pioneering the Execution Layer for Web3 AI”
And it was a good read that generated good traffic too.
My contents span across
-AgentWars
-TEE
-Partnership with Arteta network
-Phala network contributing to web3 security
-AI and Blockchain
-AI and Web3
-ZK and TEE
-AI Agent etc
I also interacted with the official Phala X handle via likes/retweets and also quotes retweets. Additionally, I engaged with content shared by my fellow Ambassadors by retweeting and quoting their posts.
It was a fruitful and very interactive role where I stepped up on my promotion and also my contributions towards Phala Africa for this month were so impactful which was evidenced by the number of people we had tuned in for our Phala monthly space and so on.
It has been a very active month in terms of content creation and putting Phala Network to a broader reach as best as possible.
I learned a lot about TEE as it’s our focus and priority at this stage
I also broadened my knowledge on Agent Wars, and AI Agent Contract, Decentralized governance, and all of this has helped me a lot in better promoting the Phala network and interacting with community members and my fellow ambassadors during our discussions and spaces.
The telegram integration of AI agents was fun to interact with and to also learn more about Phala Network via asking and interacting with popular AI agent contracts to best know about Phala network.
Twitter analytical
It was a good month no doubt. Was able to get some of my biggest views and impressions and thanks to all of the engaging posts and community building that went into action during my promotion either via content or the offline meetup.
Phala Africa:
The Phala Africa community is growing and becoming more and more interactive with very constructive and positive discussions going on.
We currently boast of 175 active community members on our telegram group.
This month Phala Africa space saw about 134 people tune in with a lot of new faces and big names from the ecosystem coming to hear what we have to say.
I am proud to be the host of this month's space.
It was an interesting one and a super interactive one where we had an engaging discussion with the Phala Africa community and beyond.
First of all, we planned the topic and areas of discussion and we had a rehearsal where we were able to put a final touch and perfection to all of our plans. And we also came up with a better way of making the space an interactive one.
So we had 4 panelists and I was the host. I started the space by giving a brief introduction of each of the topics the panelists are going to be discussing while also briefly introducing each of the panelists and their portfolio before bringing them on board
The topic of our discussion was “Integrating crypto and Al for a more accessible Web3”
I was the host for this month and below is my draft during the discussions with my panelist
Kamala discussed AI Agents and how it differs from traditional language model (LLM)
She also discussed compelling use cases for AI agents in the Web3 space
Favour discussed AI Agent tokenomics and explained how it works particularly in terms of agent management and ownership
She also spoke about How staking-based DAO governance incentivizes the improvement and maintenance of these agents
Bekka was the 3rd panelist and she spoke about some of the most critical developments or innovations needed to fully integrate AI and blockchain
And rounded it up with the way she think we could make this advancement in AI accessible to both new users and experienced developers
Scarlet spoke about how the phala network aim to ensure Agent Wars is easy to build for both engineers and non-engineers to create their own AI agents and she wrapped up her discussion with how she thinks AI agents tied to social media accounts, like those created from historical tweets can enhance users engagement
The turnout was good when compared to last month and we hope to continue building the Phala Africa community to a larger audience and to also target more developers who would build on the Phala network.
A replay of the space recording can be found below
My Second ambassador call:
I participated in my second ambassador call.
Like the first one, this also offered us all the opportunity to meet the newly onboarded amazing ambassadors from the EU and abroad where we all listened to them briefly introduce themselves.
We had an update from Scarlet about all of the activities from the Phala Africa community and we also had some discussion with Maggie and a few of the ambassadors.
The meetup ended with the Kahoot quiz from Bekka.
Polkadot Africa space:
I was a speaker at the Polkadot Africa space last week where we spoke about the Ambassador program 2.0 and what changes the African communities of the Polkadot network hope to see implemented in the new Ambassador program. The space offered me the opportunity to speak about community building and it also gave me the platform to speak about how we are implementing some of these methods in the Phala Africa community
Engaging with the community on various levels
Starting with the Phala Africa community on telegram, I was very active and ever-present.
I am the second most active participant of the Phala Africa telegram group based on the statistics below.
For this month I interacted with new members by welcoming them, answering any questions should they have any.
I put new members through our goals and target of Phala Africa and also encourage them to always be at our monthly sync.
Engaging with officials Phala telegram community:
I remain a very active member playing similar roles as stated above, additionally also answering questions concerning
-developers looking for who to contact
-questions regarding Phala technologies
-regarding possible token prizes which we discourage on the telegram group and referred them to the discord handle
-and also emphasizing over and over how ambassadors or admin won’t dm anyone with regards to anything.
I also helped to tag scam links and draw the attention of my fellow ambassadors who have the delete and ban capabilities to bring them down so community members won’t fall for the tricks the scammers are using.
I interacted with recently integrated AI agent bots, not only was it fun but it also helped in broadening my knowledge about AI agents, Agent wars, Phala network and so on all thanks to their instant and precise answers to all questions regarding Phala network being asked.
On Phala discord community: I have played a similar role as stated above and I was also very active when compared to last month. I have also pointed out on the discord channel with regards to all of these new “Who do I contact I am a developer” most likely being scammers or bots accounts.
I also was an active participant in bringing about my opinion in helping the team members make a decision. I also bring about ideas that I think would help us in progressing in whatever topic we are discussing. Even on the Phala Africa community which has now been moved to the main Phala discord page on the Africa ambassador channel, I was an active member in bringing about solutions and opinions on how I think we could move forward and achieve success in all of the discussions being laid out.
I have interacted with my fellow ambassadors, replied to Team member's questions, suggestions, and announcements
Good points:
I hit the ground running from day one of July and it’s smoother than last month more knowledge already acquired helped me to be able to promote Phala the more.
Participated in my first offline Phala meetup which was an interesting one. Not only does it allow me to meet amazing people in person but it also helps me to network on a bigger scale and the impact was felt on our Phala Africa telegram group that saw new people joining and interacting positively coupled with those who have shown interest in the Phala ambassador program.
Hopefully, I get to have more support concerning funding and so on to be able to participate and even organize meetups like this on a larger scale.
And I intend to outperform all of this in the subsequent months to come.
I will continue to contribute my quarter in ensuring we achieve all of our set goals while making sure Phala Network garners all of the visibility it requires.
We saw a good turnout in our Phala Africa synch for this month and that’s encouraging.
Bad points:
There is always room for improvement I have a thing for always believing there is more that could be done and always aiming for perfection so hence the nonstop looking for a better way to promote Phala network
Although I took the initiative to self-fund my meetup myself, the traveling, hotel, and merchandise initiatives were all something I was happy to do on my own. But I believe there should be a section where such meetups that don’t entirely fall under the university categories should be funded and so on.
It was a truly unique month and this month and beyond should be better
