Hi Annie Sorry I can't see where to add it underneath the actual code list, but here is the info:
Statins: 1) Searched CPRD GOLD prodcode dictionary for drugs with “-statin” suffix 2) Excluded irrelevant drugs (nystatin, pentostatin, cilatstatin) 3) Searched for "ezetimibe", "alirocumab" and "evolocumab" (these being the other drugs recommended as second line lipid-lowering treatment in primary care after a statin, according to current NICE guidelines)
NB/ niacin/ nicotinic acid/ bile acid sequestrants/ fibrates / omega-3-fatty acids NOT included in code list as fall outside current primary care prescribing guidelines.
Drug categories also saved in list, i.e.: statins, ezetimibe, newer agents
Here is the full reference: Eastwood SV, Mathur R, Sattar N, Smeeth L, Bhaskaran K, Chaturvedi N. Ethnic differences in guideline-indicated statin initiation for people with type 2 diabetes in UK primary care, 2006–2019: a cohort study. Hi Sophie,
Would you mind adding further information about how the statins code list was created including the specific drugs included. Thanks! If you could also add full citation for the reference linked to that would be amazing too. Thank you :)
