Ages #56

It's probably going to be Stone Age, Early Bronze Age, Middle Bronze Age, Late Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, Middle Iron Age, Late Iron Age, then something like Imperial Age, but I don't really know.

We've got about 3,000 years to cover, so how exactly do we plan on spreading them? I think these could be done, though. Stone Age is until about 2,000 BCE, Bronze Age ended between 1,200 and 600BCE and the iron age from 500BCE to the end date.

Having 14 ages like in ET would be easiest for me, as that would allow me to recycle some of the interface and UI files from ET. That would leave it at a bit over 200 years per age.

Maybe one of them could be the agricultural revolution, another some sort of 'early colonisation age' when the big colonies like Massilia, Carthage, etc were founded. I'm probably saying really really ignorant stuff at the moment because I can't use Google to check dates

I think some sort of colonisation age could be interesting. We could also make the greek colonies actual colonies now, which could be interesting (though the subject type would have to be edited a bit.) Looking at it, it seems that colonies as subjects would model the ἀποικίαι well. Maybe a Hellenistic era for post-alexander, though that may be a bit specific? Can't see anything interesting or any theme from 2000-1800BCE, so I'm not sure what could be done there. 1600-1400BCE seems to be somewhat interesting, there are quite a few interesting and important technological developments as well as prosperity in many areas, so maybe that could be the theme of the age. Maybe push the iron age back a few hundred years and have the dark age/late bronze age collapse/invasion of the sea peoples in 12/1100BCE.

It's not necessary to get all the ages together for the first release, as it will only cover the last two. If we can come up with fitting objectives and abilities for those two, I could start working on adding the ages.

Ok. Classical Age: Have certain advisor? Have certain institutions/no tech penalty? Monarch skills? Have a great project/wonder/whatever we want to call them (Library, Parthenon, Pyramids)? Have province of certain dev? Have general of certain skill? Have monarch as general (of certain skill)? Be/have roman/greek culture? Have certain idea group filled?

Abilities: Ruler admin? Tech cost? Institution cost? Institution spread? Advisor cost? Max cultures/Culture conversion?

Imperial Age: Have imperial government? Be emperor of china? Own an entire area in three different regions? Have X many cultures/culturegroups in empire? Unite culturegroup?

Abilities: More states? Admin efficiency? Ruler mil? Morale/Discipline? Build cost? Unrest? Separatism? Missionaries/strength?

Not sure about any others. Will probably come up with more at some point.

I have now added the ages, but some country specific abilities are still missing and any ideas for them are welcome.

Some icons for the objectives and abilities are also missing. I will try to make them sometime soon.
