can you post a screenshot? in v2.0.0.25, there shouldnt even be any
splash/loading
screen showing at all. i dont have a Win7/64bit box to test on, but no one else
running that OS has reported this behavior, so thanks for reporting it.

I had the problem once (Win7 32) but it never occured again. The program was
usable
wWhile the splash screen was visible.

The problem went away a couple days ago and hasn't come back (but I could
recreate it
when I posted this bug). Sorry for the hassle.

no problem. it sounds like there is a bug somewhere, especially if multiple
people
had it happen. the fact that it is so hard to recreate just means that it will
just
be harder to find and fix. =(
glad to hear it went away though and hopefully it will not reappear.

I am having this problem also, but it is only when I first boot up my laptop.
If I
exit Growl (right-click on the task bar icon -> Exit) and restart from my
desktop
icon, the splash screen doesn't appear at all. In both cases I get the
notification
"Growl is running." This only happens on my laptop (which I don't do a full
reboot
often so it's not a big deal), but not my other machines.
What is strange is that in playing around, trying to see if I could figure out
what
was causing it, it is no longer happening. It stopped when I switched my
default
display from TranslucentDark. I switched to Plain, rebooted, and no splash
screen.
I switch it back to TranslucentDark, rebooted, and now it's not happening any
more.
Growl Version: 2.0.1 (build 2.0.0.27)
Additional Displays: TranslucentDark 1.6.0.0 (set as default)
Laptop OS: Win 7 64 Professional (this is the box it happens on)
Desktop 1 OS: Win 7 64 Ultimate (doesn't happen)
Desktop 2 OS: XP 32 Pro (different box, doesn't happen)

I've just had exactly the same thing happen to me.
Growl Version: 2.0.1 (build 2.0.0.27)
Revo 3610, 4GB RAM, 16)GB HDD, Win 7 x64 Ultimate
All patched up
This happens on restart only; I didn't have the ability to end the program
through
the system tray as it wasn't there but was able to easily close w/ the Task
Manager.
On reload, no splash screen and no issues.
This was on a 1920 x 1280 screen (Home Theatre PC) and the Splash Screen was
normally-sized, but I could only see a small corner of the Growl icon and could
only
make out the 'Windows' in large typeface.
I am running uGrowl (uTorrent) app as well, and this also has issues (not
closing on
shutdown) and this loads up before GrowlWin does on reboot - could this be a
source
of issues?
D.

Very strange indeed. I am not sure if it is related to uGrowl or not (though i
cant
think of how it would affect it), but the entire startup process has been
revamped
for the next version. the splash screen has been removed completely (as opposed
to
now where is it just hidden to work around a bug) and the rest of the startup
process
(including loading display plugins and other plugins, reading history, etc) has
all
been rewritten and improved. hopefully that will solve these types of issues.
