add clear(), hide(), and remove() plus wildcard support that removes all active plots from the list. #1

all added stuff are fully tested. There is just one remaining bug as reported here: #2.

Just merged your master to this pull request. I noticed that you are starting to add tests.

I will try to find time to help with the unit test later. In terms of this PR, please let me know if you have questions.
