I'm currently trying out BoilR on Windows and I couldn't find a way to import a standalone (without a launcher) non-Steam game .exe, so I just added it manually in Steam. After searching around it seems that non-Steam games can often break Steam Input controller configuration functionality. Apparently SteamGridDB Manager's importer could fix this problem when importing games, but the project is no longer in development since a few years now.
Would like to see a future version of BoilR be able to:
Let the user browse and import standalone programs/games
Give the user the option of making imports Steam Input compatible (if possible, not sure what SteamGridDB's method for accomplishing this was).
