BoilR on Linux does not see Bottles #240

Open RouddyGH opened 1 year ago

RouddyGH commented 1 year ago

Describe the bug BoilR on Linux does not see Bottles

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Bottles(from Fedora repo or Flathub), setup, install any program
  2. Install BoilR (from Flathub or GitHub) and open
  3. See no Bottles :(

Logs If you install Bottles from the Fedora repo, there's nothing interesting in the logs: Setting for platform Bottles are invalid, reason: Nothing found But if you install Bottles from FlatHub, in the logs:

[src/bottles/platform.rs:45] &bottles = [
    Bottle {
        name: "Life Is Strange Before The Storm",
        external_programs: {},
    },
]
Setting for platform Bottles are invalid, reason: Nothing found

And there are still no Bottles in BoilR:

Do you have anything installed in the bottle? Looks like it is empty from the log output.

R0nson commented 1 year ago

Im having the same issue, ive tried restarting my steam deck and only running boilr and it still doesnt see any of the games/programs i have installed in bottles

PhilipK commented 1 year ago

@R0nson have you tried running BoilR as the standalone exe instead of the flatpak? Is there a difference for you ?

yeah, i did

PhilipK commented 1 year ago

Is this still an issue with the newest version of bottles and boilr?

sjdevries commented 1 year ago

I ran into this issue today with Bottles and boilR on Garuda Linux (Arch Derivative). Bottles - 2:51.5-1 - bottles from chaotic AUR [not flatpak version] BoilR - 1.7.21-1.1 - steam-boilr-gui from chaotic AUR

same issue with steam-boilr-gui & Bottles-AUR

Hovering over the bottles entry in boilr shows this tooltip about the error.

Maybe someone can do something with this

I have this same issue. This only happens with rpm Bottles Package. The only way to fix this in fedora right now is to install both Bottles and Boilr Flatpak packages

Information:

Fedora 39 @ Linux 6.7.7
Boilr v1.9.4
Bottles 51.10
