External references, such as API reference guide?

I want to write an android application. The android user is a registered google 
user and has gmail account. The app stores individual personal data to local 
contacts which is set to Google contacts (instead of phonebook). After then I 
want to synchronize up and/or down the local contacts with the logged account 
over the internet.

Thanx in advance if you have sample about this.
