Describe the solution / new feature you'd like It would be awesome to have an icon that is related to a sign.

Describe any alternatives you've considered not having an icon?

Additional context Kathleen and I talked in passing about an icon for SLPAA. I am not artistic, but I drafted this.

Here are proposed options

• Option 1: Lighter outline

  • it agrees more with icons of PCT or other commercial applications
  • downside: in actual use, it would look like a chunk of tofu on a green plate 😢

• Option 2: Darker outline

  • Old Praat icon feels
  • downside: Old Praat icon feels

• Photoshop resources: dropbox link

It is a simple combination of PCT's colour scheme, SLPAA's hand shape resource and Apple's design resource. I hope the colour scheme gives a sense of continuity, and the hand shape ("A" in ASL) delivers SLPAA's identity as Annotator and Analyzer.

These are great, @stannam, thank you! A couple of comments/questions from the transcribers' meeting this morning:

1. lots of support for the choice of handshape, the parallelism with the PCT logo, and the shadow effect
2. the darker outline is probably clearer
3. the outline looks somewhat pixelated here -- the original file for the handshape is a vector image, so could we get a higher-resolution version of the handhshape saved as a raster image to make the icon from, so it's smooth?
4. would it be possible to adjust the bottom of the hand image to be actually just horizontal instead of on the angle?

Thank you all for the positive feedback! I'm happy to hear these comments.

Regarding the pixelated outline, I couldn't locate the original vector file -- all I could find was the png image. If anyone can point me to the location of the original vector image, I would be happy to use that file!

However, it is worth noting that the actual icon will be smaller than the showcase images here. So I think the pixelation would not be a huge problem.

As for the other suggestions, including making the bottom of the hand image horizontal and adjusting the darker outline for clarity, those changes seem straightforward to implement.

Thanks, @stannam! Actually, I guess it's just the location images that we have as vectors, not the handshapes, so I think this is fine as is -- as you point out, in real icon size, it's not very noticeably pixelated! Thank you for making the other adjustments.
